July…?
Where did July go?!?
Wow, we have been enjoying every minute of our journey this summer, and it truly has been a journey in SO many ways! It’s been a journey of excitement, travel, multi-tasking, personal growth, spiritual battle, emotional highs and lows, accomplishment, deepening of faith, refining of skills, learning new techniques and the list goes on!
We completed our third week-long trip to Nashville about two weeks ago, so we’re pretty sure that means we missed filling you in on Days 6-15. We have some catching up to do…
Day 6 – Early morning drive to Nashville and Adam is in the studio for his first vocal recording session. This was his view…for about 6 hours straight 😀
Note the two cozy pieces of foam enveloping his space…we have become really good friends with that foam, and have spent many consecutive hours with it! 😉
Day 7 – More vocal recording. This time Lori got a chance to dive in and try it out some.
Day 8-9 – More vocal recording and Adam works on finishing his leads on about 6 songs.
Day 10 – Just to recap…by Day 6 all of the bass guitar has been tracked and added to our guide tracks (in between our first and second trip) by the amazing Matt Pierson. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to meet face to face, but we appreciate the artistry and talent Matt contributed to our project. Just wait until you hear “___ _____”!!! (We can’t tell you the name of the song yet.) 🙂 So back to Day 10, the drums are done, the bass guitar is done, the vocals are well on their way, and so naturally, it’s time for the guitar! What an honor to meet Scott Dente after growing up listening to many of his inspired musical creations! We are also very grateful for the creativity and guitar mastery he contributed to our project. You may hear his beautiful instrument on a…lullaby?…hmmmm….
At the end of Day 10, it’s time to head home for two weeks to re-coup, re-introduce ourselves to our children and attend a few rehearsals and Masses!
Day 11 – Adam is back in Nashville a couple days ahead of Lori to finish his lead vocals.
Day 12 – Still working on those leads…a typical day involves standing at a mic singing for a few hours at a time for about a total of 8-9+ hours per day.
Day 13 – Lori joins Adam back in Nashville and finishes leads on her first song (It was only an 8-hour endeavor…the plight of a “beginner”!) 😉
Day 14 – Tackling more leads and inventing new words! We’ll take a minute to share with you…Adam and Lori’s Revision of the English Language. Did you know that…
“Live” (ie: I live in this house) is actually pronounced “leeve”
“Endures” is really pronounced “ehn-dyoo-rs” in a proper, somewhat snooty voice
“Father” is actually pronounced “fa-thah”
“Friend” is actually pronounced “frahnd”
“Come” is actually pronounced “kahm” with a hint of Boston accent
Poor Jeff…he probably felt more like a language arts teacher than a producer at times…what we put that man through… 😉
Day 15 – Adam does a few doubles and Lori finishes leads on her third song and graduates from 8 hours per song to only 3 hours per song! OH yeah!
Whew! We are back home for another 2 weeks and planning on heading up for, hopefully, just one more trip for each of us to finish our vocals. Thank you so much for your support, prayer and encouragement! We are beside ourselves, enjoying this entire experience, and knowing that God has a purpose in every person who has had their hand in this project! We can’t wait to see how God is going to use our humble offerings and this project for His eternal glory!
God Bless You!
Adam and Lori
